Reflection + Celebration = Purposeful Growth

I don’t know about you, but every year I feel like I set out with clearly outlined goals for the year and before I know it, I’m caught up in the frantic energy, asking ChatGPT how the hell I’m supposed to finish everything before December 31st.

The end-of-year energy is no joke. On one hand, we’re rushing to tick off every last box, meet goals, and handle year-end curveballs. On the other hand, there’s this pull to pause, reflect, and just be. And somehow, we’re expected to navigate it all while staying cheerful (and maybe even baking cookies). And if you’re also parenting young children during the holidays, that’s a whole other can of worms!

While some of this energy is just “in the air”, there are steps you can take to decrease stress, improve clarity, and inspire action for 2025!

If you’re ready to set intentional goals for 2025, shift the end-of-year energy, improve clarity, and increase motivation, I’ve opened 3 spots for January “Jam Sessions” to help you create a roadmap for success! More information below, but first, I want to share my EOY approach that has helped me hit pause, reflect, and intentionally move forward with clarity, motivation, and less stress.

Reflection + Celebration = Purposeful Growth

First, let’s ditch the endless rush for a moment and take some time to pause, reflect, and celebrate!

  • Reflect on the wins—big, small, and the “it-didn’t-go-as-planned-but-we-survived” kind. This isn’t just about projects or work. Maybe it was finally setting boundaries or simply showing up on tough days.

  • Celebrate the lessons. Every challenge, detour, and plot twist came with growth—even if it didn’t feel like it at the time.

This isn’t just a feel good process, and before you think about it being a waste of time, let me share that reflection and celebration are powerful tools for both personal and professional growth!

Reflection provides clarity, uncovers valuable lessons, and fosters better decision-making by aligning actions with long-term goals and values.

Celebration boosts motivation, builds confidence, and strengthens relationships by acknowledging progress and cultivating positivity.

Together, they help leaders and individuals build resilience, sustain momentum, and approach the future with purpose and intentionality, all while reducing burnout and enhancing well-being. By pausing to reflect and celebrate, you create space for meaningful growth and lasting fulfillment.

Look Ahead, Dream Big, & Start Small:

I know, I know. Planning for the future can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re still juggling the chaos of right now. But here’s the secret: it doesn’t have to be complicated.

Start with this:

  1. What matters most to you in 2025? (Not what “should” matter, what actually matters.)

  2. What’s one thing you can focus on to move closer to that goal

For example, if improving work-life balance matters, focus on one habit like setting boundaries around after-hours emails.

Dreams don’t need to arrive fully formed. They’re like seeds, they need time, care, and a little patience. Pick one or two, plant them, and nurture them step by step. Check out the infographic below that outlines my Year-End process for Reflection, Planning, & Thriving in the new year:

Take Care of You

Now for the most important part: don’t forget to prioritize yourself! I know it’s cliché, but if you’ve been following me for a while, you know it's a deep seeded belief of mine that we cannot pour from an empty cup! You’re honestly no good to anyone else if you’re not taking care of #1, YOU!

It’s tempting to run on empty until the holidays, but let me tell you from experience, burnout is easy to fall into, and much harder to get out of, plus it really doesn’t make for great memories. So, here’s your reminder:

  • Recharge: Schedule time to rest (and yes, Netflix counts).

  • Reconnect: With what fuels you, whether it’s loved ones, hobbies, or even a long walk outside.

  • Reassess: What’s draining you right now? Can it wait? Can you delegate it? Can you break it into smaller steps? Remember, no “shoulding” yourself.
